SUP - International Residencies

SUP

Something Useful Project (SUP) is a UK-based NGO arts and culture organisation dedicated to fostering cross-cultural dialogue and creative collaboration through international artist residency programmes. SUP connects UK-based artists with academic institutions in India and Taiwan.

Who SUP Are

Since its inception in 2011, the Foundation has cultivated over 14 years of experience in international programming and cultural exchange. Through strategic partnerships with leading institutions, such as Sarvajanik University in Gujarat, India, and the National Changhua University of Education in Taiwan, we have established a robust global platform for artistic development.

Our international dimension ensures that UK-based artists are placed in annual residencies in India and Taiwan, culminating in high-profile exhibitions that reach audiences in Manchester, London, and abroad. A current highlight is the 2024/2025 SUP Gujarat programme, which underscores our commitment to connecting UK talent with global opportunities. By bridging international creative networks, we demonstrate a reach that extends far beyond London, cementing the Foundation’s role as a key driver in building sustainable cross-cultural partnerships.

SUP’s mission is to create and inspire artwork celebrating arts in education, society, and industry; to promote creative practice as a value of a healthier nation; and to celebrate the locality of host institutions through open studios.

Our key activites are:

  • International artist residencies in India and Taiwan (three months per cycle)

  • Studio practice: new solo and collaborative work

  • Artist-led workshops with university students

  • Final exhibitions touring to London galleries
