SUP - LAB

SUP - LAB

SUP LAB is conceived as a series of spaces for artistic practice, experimentation, and cross-context development, with the current LAB based in Taiwan.

What SUP - LAB is

While each LAB can function as an independent space, it is equally part of a continuous and connected environment, where artistic work and ideas can be safely developed, tested, and extended across education, public engagement, and international collaboration.

Within the LAB context, artistic practice is not only an outcome, but a method of inquiry, supporting processes of exchange, learning, and cultural connection.

SUP LABs provide a structural framework for the long-term development of programmes and partnerships, forming a core component of the wider SUP ecosystem.

SUP LAB fosters an interconnected, process-driven environment for artistic inquiry and cross-context development, providing a safe space for experimentation where ideas are tested, evolved, and shared through long-term international collaboration and community engagement.

Our key activites are:

  • Iterative Residencies: Prioritizing experimental "working environments" over finished products.

  • Global Collaboration: Connecting local and international partners to expand creative reach.

  • Practice-Based Learning: Using workshops and artistic inquiry for cultural exchange.

  • Active Engagement: Inviting public interaction with evolving research and works-in-progress.

SUP LAB: 4th Floor

Our first space, SUP LAB: 4th Floor is located in Changhua City, Taiwan, within Cyber Bar, a SUP Taiwan Hub Partner. Positioned on the fourth floor of a local building, it is embedded in its immediate context and forms part of a vertical creative community founded by Jason Huang. Each floor supports a different form of practice — including live music, recording, photography, and SUP LAB: 4th Floor — creating an environment for exchange, collaboration, and experimentation, while offering natural opportunities for connection within its local setting.

The LAB functions as a working environment, an active space where ideas are tested, developed, and shared as they evolve. It is shaped by process, responding to artistic production, workshops, collaborative exchange, and small-scale presentations. Here, outcomes remain open and subject to change.

SUP LAB: 4th Floor provides a space for developing context, extending invitations to the local community, and supporting artists and partners in creating work that moves beyond singular outcomes toward ongoing development.

We open with our first show on 9 May 2026. Stay tuned for more information
